Leon

During our day in Leon we did some 'business' with the Pilgrim Pouch along with sightseeing. The city buzzed with festival goers, performances, and, of course, peregrinos.

Casa de los Botines was built by Modernist architect Antonio Gaudi in 1892-1893. Above the entrance is a sculpture of Saint George slaying the dragon. Gaudi's Neo-Gothic building originally was a department store with an apartment on the top floor. It's been a bank, Caja Espana, for many years.

Dad checked out Gaudi's latest creation.

A 'confiteria' or sweet shop, was one of the many cafes that line the streets.

Musicians relaxed before their festival performance.

This pup took several minutes smelling the manhole cover
before leaving his mark on it.

A fashion show was being held near Casa de los Botines.

Girls danced in the Cathedral plaza.

As the sun set in Leon, our time in the Meseta ends. Onward to Sarria on Wed. when we begin the final stretch of Camino Tres, which will be the 100+ kilometer trek from Sarria to Santiago.
